The Kansas State Library’s annual one-book/one-state reading initiative, Kansas Reads to Preschoolers, highlights the importance of reading to children with a goal that every Kansas child from birth to age five is read to throughout the month of November.

Each year, one age-appropriate book is selected for storytime in libraries, preschools, childcare centers and home throughout Kansas.  Not a Box, by Antoinette Portis, is this year’s title.  From mountain to rocket ship, a small, imaginative bunny shows that a box is not always just a box but an object that will go as far as the imagination allows.

The State Library of Kansas and Coffey County Library are committed to increasing reading readiness while promoting reading, literacy, and libraries.  For more information about Kansas Reads to Preschoolers or any Coffey County Library events go to www.cclibraryks.org.
