Winners by Danielle Steel
Lily Thomas, a junior in high school and winner of a bronze medal in skiing at the Junior Olympics, is in training for the regular Olympics when tragedy strikes. Her injury leads her to a special neurosurgeon, Dr. Jessie Matthews, who has endured a tragedy of her own. Lily’s father, Bill, has difficulty dealing with his daughter’s injury and reaches out to an old friend, Joe, who is in a crisis of his own. Also involved in the story is Carol, a psychologist, and Teddy, a wheelchair bound teenager whose family has broken almost all ties. This story entwines these six people’s lives throughout the book. I found the book to be easy reading and it kept me interested to the very last page. I would recommend this book to both young people and adults.
